A few years ago shopping without leaving your house and having the items delivered to your home was almost unfathomable. More recently major brand labels were the only ones with online shopping sites. Today almost everyone offers online shopping alternatives. Even small companies and boutiques are establishing their presence online. While all these online commerce sites makes our life easier there are people who would always try to take advantage of something good, therefore, we need to keep two things in mind: avoiding fraudulent sites and how to find good deals online without being fooled.
Here are some safety tips for online shoppers:
1- Shop on trustworthy sites- Before you give your credit card number to any site be sure to do a little background check and read customer reviews. Simply type the name of the site with the word “review” following it into a search engine the most popular of course being Google and you should get quite a few results. Of course, if there are a lot of negative reviews chances are you would not have a pleasant online shopping experience.
2- Protect your personal information- Take a minute to read the sites privacy policy. Most sites place their privacy policy on the home page. Privacy policies inform you where and how your personal information would be used. Sites without a privacy policy should be steered clear of. Chances are they may sell sell your information to others without your permission.
3- Confirm your online purchase is secure- According to BBB, “Always look in the address box for an “s” in “https://” and in the lower-right corner for the “lock” symbol before paying. If you have any doubts about a site, BBB recommends right-clicking anywhere on the page and selecting “Properties.” This will reveal the page’s real URL (website address) to ensure it matches the URL in the browser’s address bar. If they don’t match, you may have been directed to a fake, potentially dangerous website. “
4- Pay with a credit card- You should never wire money to any site especially to people selling on personal site that you don’t know. Always use a credit card, that way you can use your dispute rights if there are any fraudulent or unauthorized charges on your card.Under the federal law customers have the right to dispute if an item is not delivered or if there are unauthorized charges on your card.
5- Keep documentation of your order- This is one of the most crucial and important steps. Make sure to document your transaction when it is completed. Most sites may send an email confirmation. Be sure to save that email and print it just in case anything happens. Also, print the final confirmation page even if you get an e-mail confirmation.
Now that you have some tips for making your online shopping experience a safe one, let’s get to the shopping! We all know that Cyber Shopping is the ‘it’ thing to do now. Window shopping may soon be referred to as ‘old-fashioned’ soon. These days more people are heading online rather than facing the shopping crowd at malls and crammed roads. According to the National Retail Federation, Cyber Monday has official replaced Black Friday as the most popular holiday shopping day of the year. Last year, almost 96.5 million people shopped online while 79 millions rushed on the stores. Furthermore,Cyber Monday deals keep growing. It doesn’t stop on Cyber Monday.
Follow these tips and find the best online deals and steals for the holiday season:
1- Join the retailer’s e-mail list- If you have a store that you like or shop at often join their e-mail list. You usually are given heads up and receive the best deals and coupons. 2- Look for coupons- Trust me coupons help you save A LOT. There are many sites specifically created for the sole purpose of providing coups. Check them out, you never know what great deal you might end up finding.
3- Make a Gift List- Well that’s the first part, the second part is stick to it! We often get carried away and end up buying what we did not set out to buy. Making a list helps you to stay more focused. That’s why I like sites like http://www.nubianheritage.com. When I go to buy my organic skin products it’s so easy to navigate that I click on one tab and all the products that I’m looking for are right there. That way I don’t have to go through the whole site and try to resist the temptation to spend over my budget.
4- Track Your Holiday Spending- Keeping track of how much you spend is very important. You don’t want to go over your budget and greet the New Year in debt.
5- Search and search- Sometimes we just settle for the first site we find but there are sites that offer better deals than the popular sites. For instance it took me a while to find a cheap concert and event ticket site then after searching and searching I found http://www.charged.fm and I was pretty upset that I didn’t take the time to search before because I could have saved so much money in the past.
6- Check the Return Policy- Sometimes you buy things and find better deals elsewhere. Make sure to check the return policy of the stores you shop from just in case you have to return the item later.
There you have it, make your online shopping experience a safe, deal grabbing one and save yourself the hassle of big crowds, searching for parking and heading into stores only to find that what you set out to get is out of stock, great deals are only a click away!

Shopping online during the holidays is quickly becoming one of the most popular options for shoppers. Although many shoppers still enjoy the hustle and bustle of doing their holiday shopping in traditional stores and may also enjoy the festive decorations festooning stores during the holiday season, many shoppers are glad to have the option to do at least part of their holiday shopping online. This is because there are a myriad of benefits to shopping online during the holiday season. Two of the most common benefits include the ability to do last minute shopping online and the convenience of avoiding overcrowded stores during the holiday season. This article will discuss these two advantages in greater detail and will also provide information on some of the other advantages to online shopping which are also important to holiday shoppers.
Last Minute Shopping for Holiday Gifts
Although there are some shoppers who are well prepared and do their holiday shopping in advance, many shoppers find themselves scrambling to purchase gifts at the last minute. These last minute shoppers far outnumber the well organized individuals who complete their holiday shopping months in advance. This category also includes not only chronic procrastinators who put off holiday shopping until the last minute but also includes well intentioned shoppers who were caught by surprise with a need to purchase gifts for a few extra people at the last minute. Fortunately for these last minute shoppers, online shopping take a great deal of the stress out of last minute shopping.
One of the greatest benefits of last minute shopping is the ability to ship gifts to friends and relatives. The available shipping options may even make it possible for shoppers to have these gifts arrive within 24 hours after making the purchase. Shoppers may pay a premium for these express shipping services but it can be a worthwhile investment for last minute shoppers who would otherwise be caught empty handed.
Avoiding Holiday Crowds by Shopping Online
The crowds at traditional stores can unbelievable during the holiday season. Finding a parking space often becomes a stressful situation and simply navigating stores can be chaotic. While some shoppers thrive in this type of environment most shoppers find this to be stressful. Aeutus Marketing puts emphasis on targeting small businesses and Spanish speaking business owners
PHOENIX, AZ, September 21, 2010 – Former bank employees and now business partners, Christopher M. Castillo and Alexander B. Anaya, have recently teamed up to form Aeutus Marketing headquartered in Phoenix Arizona. The pair met four years ago when they both worked for M&I Bank. Christopher Castillo is from Milwaukee, WI and worked for M&Is; Corporate Marketing Division and met Alex Anaya while visiting Phoenix to conduct Marketing Training for M&Is; Business and Commercial Bankers. Castillo was impressed with the Phoenix area and eventually left M&I in early 2009 to focus on his business, Castillo Consulting Services, that has been assisting small business owners with Marketing and Public Relations support for over five years.
Castillo moved to Arizona in early 2010 and brings over 17 years experience in Marketing, Internet Services, Public Relations and Communications. He is now the CEO of Aeutus Marketing and holds his BBA, MBA and has received various awards for helping the community and volunteering his services to assist aspiring entrepreneurs.
Alex Anaya, Aeutus Marketing COO, also recently left a banking career at M&I Bank after working there over six years. Anaya states “One of the numerous benefits of working for M&I bank of Arizona was that I was able to meet many business owners, however I soon learned that the services that I provided wasnt enough to help them become more profitable. Many of them knew about their particular industry, however most of them did not know how to properly market themselves and target a certain niche.” Anaya continued “I would also get many Hispanic business owners approaching me because many of them only spoke Spanish and did not have a clear understanding on how to start a business in the U.S.” Working for a very conservative bank, he was limited to the knowledge that he could share and started getting requests from some of these clients to assist them with such things as helping them with the basics to get a business started and for Marketing and Advertising assistance. In 2009, he created Anaya Consulting Group to assist people with starting business entities as well as with Marketing and Social Media support.
Christopher Castillo and Alex Anaya both understand the importance of reaching out to the public in order to increase market share, as that is always the goal for all financial institutions. Aeutus Marketing will focus on assisting small and medium size business and currently has a small staff. One of the primary focuses of Aeutus Marketing is being an advocate to assisting Latino owned businesses.
Anaya comes from a family of entrepreneurs who have migrated to the U.S. to live the American dream of running their own enterprises. Christopher Castillo also has a background in assisting Hispanic owned businesses. Castillo previously worked as a Technical Assistant at the Univeristy of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) for nearly four years in a bilingual entrepreneurial course geared toward helping people create business plans regardless of their English proficiency. He is also a founding board member of Milwaukees Latino Entrepreneurial Network (LEN) that started in 2005 with nine members and now has over 200. He helped LEN become nationally recognized, and awarded, by the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for the past two years.
Castillo has a long history of helping business owners with business plan creation and with his passion, Marketing. In 2006, he was the United States Congress Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition recipient, in recognition of outstanding and invaluable services to the community. He was also the 2009 Multicultural Entrepreneurial Institute (MEI) Volunteer of the Year Award recipient as well as the Wisconsin 2008 Small Business Administration (SBA) Minority Business Champion, Nominee and Runner-up. In 2006 he recieved the Community Service Award for the dedication, commitment and service to entrepreneurs and business owners of the Greater Milwaukee Area, presented by El Centro Empresarial and UWM. In addition, Christopher is an active board member at his alamater, University Of Wisconsin-Whitewater (UWW), for their Business School’s Minority Business Program. Castillo also has a passion for helping youth with their business aspirations as well. For the past four years, he has volunteer at the Bilingual Entrepreneurship Summer Training (BEST) Youth Camp sponsored by The Latino Entrepreneurial Network, Milwaukee, WI.
One of the areas that Alex Anaya is very passionate about is to stimulate the growth of minority owned businesses, as many truly do not understand the benefits of marketing their products or services appropriately. As a Business Management graduate from the University of Phoenix, he is prepared to take his knowledge and experience to the next level of becoming active with in the community and assisting minority owned enterprises in reaching their aspirations.
